Today, many couples are pursuing the option of marrying at their reception site rather than in a church. This option has its good and bad aspects. Here are some things to consider while making this choice.
Pros - You can eliminate a possible fee of paying for two facilities as opposed to one.
- Guests won’t have to worry about travel and transport from the wedding site to the reception site.
- Your wedding coordinator can closely monitor details for both the wedding and reception without being too far away from each location.
- You can possibly save on decorations depending on how you will use the site. Some couples select a place with outdoor and indoor options. They have the ceremony outdoors and use the natural scenery and they have the reception indoors.
- You can create continuity with your décor. If you have a wedding that is decorated along a theme such as a garden theme or other, you can continue this theme a bit more easily in the same place.
Cons Because the reception site is so close to the wedding site, guests will be reluctant to leave and allow for pictures to be taken of the wedding party after the ceremony. They will feel no rush to get to the reception.
- It is possible that because there are no opportunities for transit in between locations, guests could become bored with the wait or the wait could be interpreted as longer to the guests.
- There is a risk of the wedding crew performing tasks for the reception in front of the guests. Many couples want a sense of mystery for their reception or they want their guests to take in the presentation all at once.
- There might be more of a rush to get to the reception on the part of the bride and groom. Many couples wind down in the process of being transported from their wedding site to their reception site.
There are certainly advantages and disadvantages to both options; however, if you are aware of some of the potential pitfalls, you will be able to avoid them and have a wonderful day. |
