The following are some game ideas and general ideas for wedding showers. These should liven up your event. - Words of Wisdom Book. One way that guests can leave their mark at the shower is to sign a book and offer some words of wisdom about love and marriage for the couple. These are also fun to share with the group once everyone has signed.
- The Paper Bride. Put guests in teams of three or four. Have them select a model and give them a roll of toilet paper. With that roll of toilet paper, they must design a wedding gown for one person in their group to model. Guests can be creative and make rings, garters, etc.
- Knowledge of the couple with a twist. At many wedding showers, guests play "How much do you know the bride?" or "How much do you know the groom?". Well instead of the guests playing the game, put the bride or groom on the spot. Have them answer questions about each other in advance. Questions such as: When was your first kiss? How did you meet? What is your partner’s most embarrassing moment? Etc. are good questions. Then, before you quiz the partner, have the guests guess how many questions the partner will get right. The guest closest to the number without going over wins.
- How much attention do you pay? At some point in the shower, have the bride and or groom leave the room. Once they are gone, asks the guests to describe what they are wearing. Select about 10 items to note. Ask if they have anything in their hair, or what color they are wearing, etc. Once the group has had a chance to sufficiently describe the attire of the bride and or groom, invite them back in and the guest with the most accuracy wins.
- Trivia. Everyone loves a good trivia game. Select about 10 couples from television and describe their relationship. In the form of a Jeopardy question, asks the guests to identify the couple. For example, a sample would read: "Always keeps up mischief while her husband goes to lead his band. Her red hair and voice will drive you crazy, but her man loves it." - Hopefully someone will guess "Lucy and Ricky Ricardo from I Love Lucy!"
- Kodak Moments. One way to make a shower memorable is with pictures. If you have access to the technology, use a digital camera and take pictures of guests during the shower mingling and with the bride. At some point during the shower, load the pictures into your computer and create a collage to place on the front of the memory book for the couple. This will make the event even more special.
Whatever the game or idea, just be sure to have fun and make it special. Enjoy!
