- A Balanced Budget – Calculate an amount you can afford, then double check that amount by asking around to those who have gotten married recently about their budgets. Find a number that comfortably fits your financial goals. After that stick with it!
- The Perfect Date – Pick a date and time for your marriage. Consider time of year for not only your ceremony, but for your honeymoon as well. Try to narrow it down to one main day and two alternates, just in case.
- Location, Location, Location – Where you will get married is important. In fact, it can even effect your date! View at least three to five venues. We encourage you to look at churches, reception sites, and all in one venues. Sometimes depending on your location, you could save money in other places.
Coupon Check – Believe it or not, there are discounts in getting married. Many vendors give discounts for off season (Fall-Winter) and for Non-Saturday dates with the largest discounts on Monday-Thursday. You may even be able to name your price, on those dates!
- The Primary – Certain vendors need to be contacted and selected first or within six to nine months of your date, such as Ministers, Coordinators, Photographers, Caterers, DJs or Bands, and any other person who can only do one event a day.
- The Secondary – The next group can probably be contacted close to three to six months before the date with no problem. These are vendors whom you’ve found extra money for, or who can do several weddings a day, such as cake bakers or florists.
- “Relax, Relate, Release” – Don’t get bothered too much over anything at the alter or on the way to it. The most important thing is that you are getting married. So make your focus the marriage, not the wedding day. Try not to let family and friends worry you too much before the event and let your vendors handle your special day, while you relax and enjoy it.
